ICOFOM, in collaboration with ICOM Qatar and Qatar Museums, is pleased to announce that the recommendations emerging from the expert panel and discussions held at the international conference The Future of Museums and Museology Practices in a Changing World are now available.
Bringing together global museum professionals from Qatar and beyond, academics, and policymakers, the conference addressed the evolving role of museums as active agents in cultural, digital, and ecological diplomacy. The discussions underscored the importance of global cooperation and sustainability in shaping the future of museums.
As stated by Alberto Garlandini, Former President of the International Council of Museums (ICOM), President of the ICOM Foundation and President of Blue Shield Italy, in the opening panel:
“Museums, museology, and ICOM are at a turning point in their history. We are facing unprecedented challenges and opportunities. Respect for diversity, inclusion, and participation are the keywords. Global challenges call for global cooperation.”
— Alberto Garlandini, Opening Panel, 1 December 2024
